SG Gary Trent Jr.

Trent is the least likely of the three big names to come back to Toronto, as he doesn’t;t have the benefit of being a point guard like VanVleet. With Trent squeezed out of the starting lineup at the end of the season, he will likely eye a team with more cap space that can promise him a starting role.

Having averaged over 17 points per game in each of his two full seasons with the Raptors, Trent’s production remains solid. On a team that lacks shooting, losing Trent would be a serious blow to their infrastructure that Ujiri needs to spend a ton of time and effort replacing.

Gary Trent Jr. could leave the Toronto Raptors.

The Houston Rockets have more cap space than anyone and a coach in Ime Udoka that wants to flip the roster overnight, so they could be a motivated buyer. The Memphis Grizzlies aren’t bringing Dillon Brooks back, so Trent could be a potential upgrade that keeps them in contention.

The looming threat of the Los Angeles Lakers, who could have over $25 million in cap space if they renounce some veteran free agents, can’t be ignored. Playing LA after years of plying his trade in Portland and Toronto could appeal for the Klutch client.
