With the Toronto Raptors at home on their hypothetical couch eating chips and watching the postseason, fans have to live vicariously through the remaining collection of players if they want to see their championship dreams realized. Luckily for Raptors fans, Kyle Lowry is still alive and kicking.

Lowry is not the player he once was, but he has clearly played a valuable part in helping the No. 8 seed Miami Heat put up an 11-3 record in the postseason as they inch ever so closer to the NBA Finals. The Denver Nuggets have built up a 3-0 lead in their playoff series as well.

While Nikola Jokic is clearly the engine that makes the Nuggets go, Denver also has been privy to the services of an excellenan co-star in Jamal Murray. Those who root simultaneously for the Raptors and the league’s best Canadians are in a true win-win situation.

If the Heat win it all, Raptors fans will rejoice in the fact that Lowry has his second ring all locked up. If Denver wins, Murray will get his first championship and add more jewelry to the collective Canadian trophy case. That subset of Raptors fans is having a ball right now.

Raptors fans could see Kyle Lowry, Jamal Murray win rings.

The Heat can no longer be viewed as the plucky underdogs, as they have thoroughly stomped three consecutive favored teams. Lowry isn’t scoring like he did with the Raptors, but he is keeping the offense flowing and hitting timely shots when the need arises. That’s leadership.

Murray, on the other hand, is once again rising up when it counts in the postseason. The two man game of Jokic and Murray has been enough to help Denver coast to a few victories in the fourth quarter, with Murray himself proving to be a valuable co-star on a title contender.

This is obviously not the situation Raptors fans hoped to find themselves in after winning 48 games in the prior season, but it’s better than watching the rival Celtics coast to another ring or getting traumatic flashbacks of LeBron James ripping this team’s soul out of its body like Shang Tsung in the postseason every year.

The Raptors’ fanbase would love nothing more than for Lowry to continue his winning ways and keep thriving elsewhere in the NBA, but a Canadian getting a ring would make for a nice consolation prize.
