4. Donovan Mitchell (2017)
Mitchell’s scoring helped make the Jazz a consistent postseason presence, and he had as big a role as anyone when it came to making the Cavs the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference. Mitchell has averaged 24.6 points per game in his career, with his 28.3 points per game this year serving as his best year to date.
Is it a stretch to say that Mitchell has a path to becoming the best shooting guard in the Eastern Conference? The fact that a late-rising 6-1 off-ball guard ended up becoming one of the best offensive players in the league shows that there’s a chance the No. 13 pick can land a star.
3. Devin Booker (2015)
Booker may be the best shooting guard in the game right now, even though it took him a few years to get going. Despite Monty Williams getting fired, he helped turn Booker from a high-volume chucker to a lethal scorer who has proven time and time again to be a deadly clutch performer.
Booker, like many top guards picked in this range, came with some big flaws. Phoenix stuck with him and made him one of the best players in the league at any position. Mario Hezonja, Frank Kaminsky, Justise Winslow, and Trey Lyles were all picked above him in the 2015 Draft.
