Pascal Siakam trades for Toronto Raptors: Anfernee Simons /

2. Anfernee Simons, Portland Trail Blazers

Simons is the hottest trade name on the market, as the Trail Blazers could either send him away for a star that can help them build around Damian Lillard or flip him elsewhere as part of a longer rebuilding move. If Simons is going to be out there on the market, Toronto should be all over him.

Not only will they have some premium assets in Anunoby and Pascal Siakam to give away, but they have a need for a player with his exact style of play. Alongside the No. 3 pick, who may end up being Scoot Henderson, Toronto could form the backbone of their future backcourt.

Anfernee Simons would boost the Toronto Raptors.

Simons is by no means a good defender, and the Raptors would have to account for the fact that he would be a liability on that end. The fact that Simons’ name has come up so frequently in talks helps illustrate how dire the situation is offensively around the Raptors.

The Raptors already fleeced the Trail Blazers in the Gary Trent Jr. deal, as Trent thrived while Norman Powell was flipped to the Clippers for spare parts at a discounted price. Will they be able to pull off yet another dominant victory in the negotiation market?
