Jeff Dowtin Jr. – Toronto Raptors

After playing on three teams during his rookie season, Jeff Dowtin Jr. made his way to Toronto last off-season on a two-way deal. Dowtin had much more stability with the Raptors, having played in 25 games compared to just nine total between his three stops last season.

With his two-way deal expired, the squad should look to bring the young point guard back next season.

While his playing time was not bountiful, Dowtin took advantage whenever he was given minutes. Dowtin had a quality stretch where he outplayed both Malachi Fynn and Dalano Banton, who were draft selections by the Raptors.

Due to his strong play, Raptors fans were justifiably upset when the team did not give Dowtin a standard deal last season. The front office could look to right their wrongs by retaining Dowtin on a deal this off-season and utilizing him more next season.

Keeping Dowtin would not be expensive for the Raptors, in all likelihood. They’d likely be able to bring him back on a team-friendly deal, which should be a no-brainer. The Raptors could very well have a hidden gem here; it will be interesting to see if they decide they want to unearth it.
