4. Ahmad Caver

Caver spent three seasons with the Memphis Hustle with the aim of trying to crack the Grizzlies’ roster as Ja Morant’s backup. After trying and failing to earn a permanent role, the former Old Dominion star went overseas to improve his status with BC Wolves of the Lithuanian Basketball League.

Caver did about as well as one could possibly do in that league, winning league MVP and emerging as the top scorer in that competition. The Raptors are rolling the dice on him, bringing him back to the NBA and letting his ferocious playmaking skills take full flight.

Ahmad Caver could impress the Toronto Raptors.

Jeff Dowtin is not going to play in Summer League games due to an injury, opening the door for Caver to prove he is worthy of an enhanced role. Caver can beat out names like Cambridge, Nembhard, and former Raptors second-round pick David Johnson in Vegas.

Caver’s best chance at making the professional ranks in North America will come when he fixes his iffy 3-point shot. If he can do that, his natural speed, finishing, and playmaking will get some teams interested enough to where they will give him a standard NBA deal.
