While some Toronto Raptors fans may not have a ton of enjoyment watching an unusually constructed team in the 2023-24 season, the virtual Raptors in NBA 2K24 might provide fans with more excitement. The Raptors have a solid top-end roster in the gaming universe.

Fans were treated to some pleasant surprises when the initial rankings were put out there, as Pascal Siakam and Scottie Barnes came in at 86 and 83 overall, respectively. Considering how tough it can be to get extra overall points tacked when you reach the 80s, those ratings are solid.

As with any sort of rating system like this, some players are bound to fall through the cracks and not get the number they deserve. Teams like the Raptors feel that sting quite frequently, as some of Toronto’s more integral players got unfortunately low scores.

The two ratings that stood out for all the wrong reasons are related to OG Anunoby and Dennis Schroder. Anunoby is an 82 overall, which ranks third on the team behind Barnes and Siakam, while FIBA World Cup hero Schroder came in at a surprising 77 overall.

Austin Reaves, Jalen Williams, and Mitchell Robinson are some of the players who were ranked equal to Anunoby, who is fresh off one of the best offensive seasons of his career while still making the All-Defensive team. Anunoby came in behind two young centers in Walker Kessler and Alperen Sengun.

Schroder may not have had the best season of his career, but putting him beneath players like Tari Eason, Monte Morris, and Obi Toppin is not representative of the type of player he has been over the last few years. The first update to the game should address Schroder’s rating.

By that time, Schroder may have established himself as either a strong facilitating starting point guard or a dynamic backup who helped beef up the bench. Anunoby will likely continue putting on the same two-way displays that made him one of the best young forwards in the Eastern Conference.

While the 2K ratings last season seemed objectionable after a 48-win season, the lower ratings on this team’s overall roster are warranted due to a poor season under Nick Nurse. Even if you want to underrate the Raptors, making Anunoby and Schroder that far down the hypothetical ladder is unusual.
