2. Jalen McDaniels is the real deal

Even on a team that features names like Chris Boucher and Precious Achiuwa providing a very similar style of play, McDaniels’ strong two-way play has made an impression on this fanbase and coaching staff. The former Hornets and 76ers wing may have found a new long-term home in Canada.

McDaniels averaged 8.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in the preseason, though his pesky on-ball defense is what has really stood out. A classic Raptors-esque switchblade who can move around to multiple positions, McDaniels is a 3-pointer away from becoming an exceptionally talented wing.

Jalen McDaniels could become a stud with the Toronto Raptors.

McDaniels shot just over 30% from 3-point range in the preseason. Rediscovering that jumper and making it at the same rate he did with Charlotte and Philadelphia could be the difference between establishing himself as the eighth man on the roster and remaining on the fringe.

Given Rajakovic’s pedigree as a developer of talent, he could have everything McDaniels needs to add some extra spice to his half-court repertoire finally. He helped Dillon Brooks get the bag from Houston. Why can’t McDaniels follow that same roadway in Toronto?
