Bruno Fernando was a Hero

Bruno Fernando rolled into Training Camp with the roster a complete and total longshot for him. He has bounced around the ends of benches and was a third center at best, and the Raptors scooped him up for emergency depth.

He may have earned a spot on the final roster with his performance Friday night, going 3-for-3 from the field, and was a +12 in his 15 minutes. He played with more confidence and was physical in the paint sealing off opponents, earning himself multiple passes right at the rim for a score. He was not amazing on Friday night, but he was good enough to secure himself a roster spot, which was what he needed to do.

Jahmi'us Ramsey was a Zero

If anyone was going to unseat Bruno Fernando from his place as the 15th player on the roster, now was the time to do it, as the leaguewide cutdown date is today. Of the players on non-guaranteed deals, Jahmi'us Ramsey probably had the best chance.

Instead, Ramsey went out and purely looked for his own shot, managing just two baskets with two turnovers and two fouls before some late-game fouling got him some points at the free-throw line. The Raptors don't need inefficient scoring, but rather guards who can shoot (not Ramsey's thing) and facillitate.

If there was a whisper of a chance of Ramsey getting onto the roster, this was it, and instead he was a -13 in 9 minutes with the ball largely in his own hands.
