Who are the mysterious people overrating Brandon Ingram in 2026? I haven't personally run into any of them, but if you know the whereabouts of any, please let me know. According to Bleacher Report, Brandon Ingram is the most overrated player in the entire league!
I am not a Raptors fan so you can trust my unbiased take here, people of Toronto; Brandon Ingram is probably only overrated by people who haven't watched basketball in years. For those who have actually kept up with Ingram's play, his rating is completely fair.
Yes, Ingram was an All-Star this year. He was also added to the team late because of injuries, and he's the leading scorer on the fifth-best team in the Eastern Conference by record. That's far from egregious (and there have been egregious All-Star selections before).
Ingram does have negative on/off splits this year, but the Raptors are still better than opponents when he's on the floor — thus, the Raptors aren't good when he's off the floor and bad when he's on it. This is one of the occasions when on/off splits can be a little misleading. Of course the Raptors are still good when Ingram is off the floor, because the Raptors are, well, a good team.
Brandon Ingram is perfectly rated in his first year with Raptors
There was a point when Brandon Ingram was overrated — it was just years before he joined the Toronto Raptors. But I'll argue that, even around 2021 (which is when the public perception of Ingram was probably at its highest) that was mostly not his fault.
Instead, Ingram became overrated because the basketball world created sky-high expectations for him, and then were forced to lower those expectations when everyone realized they weren't fair in the first place, but then he exceded those lowered expectations, then was once again unfairly thought of as a player he's not. It's been a weird cycle.
In Toronto, though, I think Ingram is thought of as exactly the player he is; a highly talented scorer who fits the Raptors well but isn't quite the offensive engine the league prescribed him to be when he was drafted nearly a decade ago.
In fact, I think Brandon Ingram might be the most fairly rated player in the league in 2026. Those sneaky Ingram overraters are out there somewhere, though. I won't stop until they're caught. In the meantime, there's playoff basketball to worry about.
