2 Toronto Raptors who are expendable, and 1 they can't afford to trade
By Mike Luciano
Tradeable: Pascal Siakam
Even though Siakam is having a down season when compared to last year, he remains one of the best power forwards in the league and one of the best scorers in the league inside the arc. Even with his free agency, teams would love to bring Siakam into the fold.
The Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings have already made their presence in the Siakam sweepstakes known, and teams like the Indiana Pacers could ramp up their pursuit. Ujiri can't use the excuse of no sizeable market this year, as he is on everyone's wish list.
The Toronto Raptors might need to move off Pascal Siakam.
The Raptors can talk about how this will eventually be Scottie Barnes' team until they are blue in the face, but all of those promises will ring hollow if they are unable to find a way to let him become an unquestioned top dog on offense. Trading Siakam does that.
Furthermore, the Raptors would finally be able to build a genuine NBA-level bench. No more Precious Achiuwa wild swings, three power forward lineups, or limited backup guard play. Trading Siakam is going to be tough to swallow, but it is the only way forward.
