No. 1: Bismack Biyombo

The summer of 2016 was a watershed moment for the NBA. A spike in the salary cap due to a new television contract poured money into the league at one specific moment in time, and a plethora of players signed insanely lucrative contracts as they were in the right time, right place to be free agents that summer.

Congolese center Bismack Biyombo was one of those players, landing a lucrative deal with the Orlando Magic. The reason he was in position for such a payout was a strong one-year stop with the Toronto Raptors, including one game against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers where he pulled down 26 rebounds.

Biyombo has bounced around the league in the years since and is something of a journeyman option now, a low-upside but reliable big man teams can sign to be their emergency center. He remains a force inside as a rebounder and shot-blocker, and could be brought into training camp to compete with the recently-signed Bruno Fernando for the final roster spot.

The Raptors would likely also benefit from having Biyombo around such young bigs as Ulrich Chomche and Branden Carlson, two rookies who will seek to develop into NBA rotation players and could learn from the veteran center. If he is open to the role, having Biyombo come into camp would make a lot of sense.
