The Ice-cold shooting was a zero

The shooting for the Raptors has been absolutely frigid in Las Vegas, a stark contrast to the record-setting temperatures outside the gym. In five games the Raptors shot just 27.8 percent from deep, and that despite starting multiple players expected to be sharpshooters for the team.

It was no different on Sunday, as the Raptors collectively shot 21.4 percent from deep. The starting lineup went 3-for-13, and the bench was an even worse 3-for-15. 6 makes is a paltry total for an NBA team in any setting in 2024. The Raptors have to hope some of the players who couldn't hit a shot in Vegas can rediscover their rhythm in Toronto.

Ulrich Chomche was a hero

Ulrich Chomche is very rarely quiet in a basketball game, with loud successes and often louder mistakes. He was a foul-happy raw center frequently out of position and entirely unable to create a shot for himself, but that's to be expected as he comes to the league from the NBA Academy in Africa with essentially no top-level experience.

That Chomche is able to do much of anything should be viewed as a success by the Raptors. They started him alongside Branden Carlson in a twin towers lineup, and he responded with his most active defensive game, blocking five shots - and recording only four fouls!

He was frequently late to a contest but managed to recover and block the shot anyway. His lack of strength was evident as opponents finished through him multiple times and he was beat for reboudns frequently, but the flashes he has shown suggest there might just be an NBA player lurking within.
