Crafting the Toronto Raptors is not about maximizing the team's success in this upcoming season.

There is always a pull to do so, to try to put the best pieces together to win in the here-and-now. After a colossally painful season a year ago that saw the team win just 25 games and not get a lottery pick to show for it, fans and the organization alike may be pushing for a bounceback year to discard those memories.

Yet given the young age of the Raptors' core and the timeline of development for a few of the newest pieces, the front office should be targeting a spot a few years down the road to try and push for excellence.

With that in mind, the team may need to think about a chance at the center position. Jakob Poeltl is older than the rest of the Raptors' core, turning 29 years old before the season begins, and would likely be desired by a number of win-now teams around the league.

The Toronto Raptors may want to get younger at center

If Toronto is going to try and get younger at center, however, who should they target around the league? Which players are both available in a trade and represent significant upside at the position? Should the Raptors prioritize youth, financial savings or potential upside in a deal?

Let's build out a 3-team trade for Toronto to get younger at center, involving Brandon Ingram and the Atlanta Hawks, and see whether it would make sense for all parties involved.
