The Toronto Raptors have kept things relatively quiet this offseason.

They agreed to new deals early with Scottie Barnes and Immanuel Quickley, heading off any drama. Their one trade was a relatively minor one not involving any surefire rotation players, and they made four draft picks to build out the future depth of the roster.

No massive trades, no significant signings, and their highest draft pick was at No. 19. It's hard to blame Toronto for taking a moment to catch its breath after a pair of blockbuster deals during the season to move on from Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby, but they certainly didn't continue the momentum this summer.

Rumors have continued to swirl that the Raptors could still be open to a Jakob Poeltl trade; that would certainly mark a significant move. Yet even so, most trade constructions proposed have the Raptors adding role players or protected future picks. What if they aimed higher?

What if the Raptors made a risky trade?

The Raptors have Bruce Brown's $23 million expiring salary they could pair with Jakob Poeltl's deal to go hunting for a star. Scottie Barnes is the centerpiece of whatever team they are building, but could the Raptors go after a No. 2 to ease the burden on Immanuel Quickley and accelerate the team's trajectory?

Let's build out a trade that would do just that, looking to elevate Toronto's offense and their standing in the league. To do that, the Raptors need to look to the west.
