20th Overall Pick: Delon Wright (2015)

After swinging for the fences (and ultimately missing) with their 20th pick in Bruno Caboclo at the 2014 draft, the Raptors front office decided for a more modest selection in 2015, taking Delon Wright out of Utah.

Known as a defensive-first player, Wright averaged 15.0 PPG in his two collegiate seasons with an impressive 5.8 RPG as a six-foot-five point guard.

At the start of the 2016 season, it was hard to visualize what Wright was going to bring for Toronto, a team that had already solidified their point guard position with Kyle Lowry and Cory Joseph as the backup.

Bouncing between the NBA and the G-League, Wright worked his way to earning a bench role with the Raptors during his four-year stint in Toronto until he was ultimately traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019 as a part of the Marc Gasol deal.

Wright wasn’t the flashiest player with the most upside, but understood his role and was quite good at it. In hindsight, Tyus Jones (No. 24) may have been the safer pick after his successful run at Duke, however, with the Raptors also grabbing Norman Powell later in the draft (No. 46), it's hard to complain about how things turned out.
