Group 2: Give me a little something

Ochai Agbaji, Jamal Shead, Davion Mitchell

The next group of players on the roster are not highly sought after by other teams. Ochai Agbaji was a lottery pick just two years ago, but a shaky first season and a regression in his second season has his value in freefall. A dysmal showing in Summer League has only increased the likelihood that his fourth-year team option will be declined by the Raptors.

Yet at the same time, Agbaji also fits the bill for a highly-desirable NBA player, a two-way wing with scoring and playmaking chops if he can put it all together. There is a reason he was drafted in the lottery, after all. Players with that pedigree and upside tend to get second and third and fourth chances, so a team could want to bring him in and give him a shot in their house while he is still on an inexpensive rookie deal.

Davion Mitchell is in a similar boat to Agbaji. He is a year closer to hitting free agency, being drafted in 2021 rather than 2022, but otherwise he is in a prove-it situation to earn a new deal in the league. He remains an impactful point-of-attack defender, but his lack of size reduces his versatility and he hasn't developed much offensively.

Finally, Jamal Shead was offered a number of two-way deals by teams in the second round, turning them down and falling to the Raptors with the 45th pick. He will have to prove something in the league before he is worth more than a marginal asset.
