Raptors Big Board: Top 10 prospects for Raps no matter where their pick lands

The Toronto Raptors could land at multiple slots in the Top 10 for the 2024 NBA Draft. What should the Top 10 look like on their team-specific Big Board?

No. 4: Donovan Clingan, Center, UConn

The Toronto Raptors can't feel locked into avoiding the center position when draft night comes around. While Jakob Poeltl is under contract for another three seasons, his limited game is not enough to fend off challengers. If the best player available on the board is a center the Raptors should still pull the trigger.

Donovan Clingan was one of the best players in college basketball this season, but unlike players like Zach Edey and Dalton Knecht his impact looks immediately translatable to the NBA game. The 7'2" center is the kind of prospect who immediately begins making a defensive impact even as he accelerates to NBA speeds.

Clingan has a 7'7" wingspan and can completely swallow up the paint, not only blocking shots but deterring them to begin with, Rudy Gobert style. He is not the level of switch defender that Sarr is, but he is mobile enough to execute various pick-and-roll coverages. His quick hands also generate steals before the shot even goes up, and if he is anywhere near a rebound he will inhale it.

On offense he is a rim-runner, setting crushing screens and finishing strong at the basket. He has a few post moves in his arsenal but he likely won't be a Top-3 option when on the court. His soft hands allow him to catch lobs and dump-offs easily and he also has good vision for passing back out. He could be the long-term replacement for Poeltl and give the Raptors a higher-end version of when Poeltl is currently bringing to the table.
