Raptors Free Agency: 3 point guards who could sign to back up Immanuel Quickley
No. 1: Delon Wright
Dennis Smith is a low-impact backup, while Tyus Jones is more of a highly-priced co-starter. The perfect balance between the two may just be a familiar face in that of Delon Wright.
The 6'5" Wright was drafted by the Raptors back in 2015 and spent four seasons with Toronto before he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in the Marc Gasol deal. He has made his way around the league since then, playing in Dallas, Detroit, Sacramento, Atlanta, Washington and now Miami over the last five seasons.
Wright is one of the better defensive point guards in the league, with incredibly long arms and excellent instincts. He averages 2.5 steals per 36 minutes this season and can contest shots while also protecting the passing lanes.
The Raptors could add Wright as a player to pair with Immanuel Quickley defensively, coming in as a jumbo defender and solid playmaker when Quickley is off the court, and occasionally playing alongside him as a defensive backcourt partner.
There is good reason to think that a return to Toronto would be good for both the Raptors and for Delon Wright, and he will likely be available for an extremely low number this summer.
