Raptors Mock Draft: Toronto trades Poeltl and Brown, drafts 4 perfect prospects
Pick No. 31: Baylor Scheierman, Creighton
With the Raptors' final pick they could go in a number of different directions. They could look for another big man with more of a defensive profile to develop alongside Filipowski, or add 3-and-D combo forward with size to back up Scottie Barnes. Instead, they go for even more shooting around Barnes and Quickley with Creighton sharpshooter Baylor Scheierman.
One of the best shooters in the draft, Scheierman can pull up off the dribble, off the catch or coming off of screens and dribble handoffs. He is not afraid to pull from well beyond the NBA line, and if a defender closes out he can attack the rim and make plays. At 6'7" he has good size even if his limited athleticism will hold him back from being an impact defender. Having Gradey Dick and Scheierman spacing the court will unlock the Raptors' offense long-term.
The Final Roster
That's a lot of roster turnover for the Raptors, but it would result in a deep roster with plenty of options for each position. Here is the final breakdown:
Point Guards: Immanuel Quickley, Nikola Topic
Wings: De'Anthony Melton, RJ Barrett, Gradey Dick, Ja'Kobe Walter, Baylor Scheierman, Luke Kennard
Forwards: Scottie Barnes, Ziaire Williams, Jalen McDaniels
Bigs: Paul Reed, Kelly Olynyk, Kyle Filiposwki, Chris Boucher
Proposed Starting Lineup: Immanuel Quickley, De'Anthony Melton, RJ Barrett, Scottie Barnes, Paul Reed
