Raptors News: Final record, Quickley return, players not coming back
Immanuel Quickley wants to re-sign with Raptors
Monday the Raptors had their exit interviews with the media before going their separate ways for the summer. Immanuel Quickley spoke ahead of his restricted free agency this offseason and was extremely positive about the team, the city and his desire to stick around.
"“Absolutely. Love Toronto since the day I got here, they’ve done nothing but show me love. Love is an action word. It’s not just something you just throw around. They’ve done that from the day I got here to today. So obviously, the team and my agent have to handle everything, but I love being here in Toronto absolutely.”"
-Â Immanuel Quickley
Quickley was the centerpiece of the OG Anunoby trade that also brought over RJ Barrett and that 31st pick. The former Kentucky guard thrived in a bench role with the New York Knicks before joining the Raptors and becoming a full-time starter. He averaged 18.6 points, 6.8 assists and 4.8 rebounds in 38 games in Toronto and shot 39.5 percent on a robust 7.1 3-point attempts per game.
As a restricted free agent this summer Quickley will have limited options. as the Raptors can begin negotiating with him earlier than any other team and can match any offer he signs with another team. That should give Toronto some leverage in negotiations to work out a deal that pays Quickley like a solid mid-tier starting point guard.
Players who won't be back
Immanuel Quickley will almost certainly re-sign with the Raptors. Scottie Barnes, Jakob Poeltl, RJ Barrett and Kelly Olynyk are all under contract for next season, as are youngsters Gradey Dick and Ochai Agbaji. The core of this team isn't going anywhere unless Toronto cooks up a significant offseason trade.
There are other players who are likely to be on their way out, however, and we highlighted five in particular who are almost certainly not returning next season.
