Raptors odds to receive No. 1 overall pick in 2024 NBA Draft (Toronto looks to start rebuild)
By Reed Wallach
The Toronto Raptors started its rebuild in the middle of the season, trading Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers and OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks.
Now, bottoming out, the Raptors will look to get a foundational piece to join the likes of Scottie Barnes in a youth movement. Toronto currently has the sixth worst record in the NBA, which is impactful both in hopes of landing the top pick, but also maintaining this one as the team must send its first round pick to the Spurs if its outside of the top six.
Toronto’s odds to get up from No. 6 to No. 1 is listed at 9%, per NBA.com, a small chance, but a possibility and its also more likely than not that the team maintains its pick given its spot in the standings. The team is two games behind the Memphis Grizzlies for the seventh worst record in the NBA this season.
Currently, FanDuel Sportsbook has the Raptors odds to get the top pick at +850, which translates to a 10.53% probability, overestimating the teams chances, but baking in some possible changes to the record.
While possibly not an efficient bet, this is a good way to provide insight into where the Raptors stand, in the betting market to win the lottery next month in Chicago.
More importantly than getting the No. 1 seed is holding onto the pick all together, which the Raptors are currently on track to do if the likely outcomes play out and the team picks sixth or better come the 2024 NBA Draft as the team looks to stockpile young talent.
