Raptors vs. Nets key players to watch
Toronto Raptors
Immanuel Quickley: The former first-round pick sat out the loss to Indiana but is still coming off two stellar scoring performances. Quickly went for 31 points on 9-of-15 shooting to go with 13 assists. Quickley has turned in back-to-back double-doubles after going for 25 points and 11 rebounds (nine assists) in Friday’s upset of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Brooklyn Nets
Noah Clowney: Brooklyn’s first-round pick last season, Clowney is averaging just 4.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. However, he’s seen an increase in playing time down the stretch and has grabbed double-digit rebounds in two of the last three games and is averaging 12.5 points a night in four April contests.
Raptors vs. Nets prediction and pick
Brooklyn is in unfamiliar territory Wednesday as a double-digit favorite for just the second time this season (0-1 after failing to cover at 10.5-point favorites vs. Detroit on Saturday). Can you trust the Nets when laying double figures?
Toronto’s defense is sub-par overall, but Brooklyn is 24th in the scoring offense and 25th in effective field goal percentage and have won by 11 or more points just once since the beginning of March. Toronto is susceptible down low with its bottom-5 ranking in points in the paint allowed, but Brooklyn’s offense is 28th in the NBA in 2-point shooting.
Overall, it’s hard to trust this Nets’ offense in this spot with its offensive struggles and lengthy injury report. Toronto’s offense has enough firepower behind Quickley, Gary Trent Jr. and R.J. Barrett to put up enough points to hang with Brooklyn’s middle-of-the-road defense. Take the points with Toronto.
