2. Ryan Dunn
Dunn is in the running for best defender in this draft. The 6’8 wing can guard nearly every player on the floor and is a strong rebounder, rim protector, and on-ball defender. Dunn averages 6.9 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 2.4 blocks in just 27.2 minutes per game this season for Virginia. He is an elite defender who will make an immediate impact on that end of the floor in the NBA.
The 20-year-old will slide in the draft because of his offensive game. He is just 11 of 44 from 3-point range over his two NCAA seasons and offers little in terms of playmaking or scoring. Dunn’s role in the offense is non-existent at this stage. He must improve his jumper and find some consistency to expand his minutes at the next level.
The Raptors love 6’8 wings with potential. Ryan Dunn is already an impactful defender and could be a game-changer in Toronto. He can defend at the point of attack and instantly improves their entire unit.
Dunn’s play and performance through the pre-draft process will be monitored closely. If he can consistently knock down shots in workouts, the 6’8 wing could climb into the lottery. Judging by what he has shown in games, he will likely fall to the mid-to-late first round and could be a steal for the Toronto Raptors.
