The 2024 Paris Olympics have begun, and that means the opportunity to cheer for the multiple players that the Toronto Raptors have competing with Team Canada for Olympic gold in men's basketball.

While Kelly Olynyk plays an important role as a floor-spacing big, the key player for both the Raptors and Canada is RJ Barrett. The former Duke and New York Knicks wing joined the Raptors last season in a midseason trade and balled out, playing the best basketball of his career for Toronto and foreshadowing a large role with Team Canada this summer.

Barrett is one of the locked-in starters for Canada, and alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the focal point of their offensive attack. How is Barrett performing now that the Olympics have begun?

Team Canada Schedule

Barrett and Canada are competing in Group A alongside Australia, Greece and Spain. Once the group stage is complete the remainder of their schedule will be laid out. Here are those first three games:

Team Canada defeated Greece and Australia thus far to take an extremely strong position heading into the final game. Teams in Olympic basketball are awarded two points for a win and one point for a loss, so the standings remain tight, but something truly shocking would need to occur for Canada not to advance.

UPDATE: Canada continued their strong run of play in France, dropping Spain 88-85 to move to 3-0 and win the "Group of Death". They will be in pod "E" and face one of the two worst second-place finishers, likely either France or Serbia.

How has RJ Barrett performed thus far? He has been dominant. Let's break down each individual game.

RJ Barrett's Game-By-Game Performance

Canada vs. Greece - Canada Wins 86-79

RJ Barrett was the leading scorer for Team Canada as they overwhelmed Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Greek basketball team. He shot 8-for-13 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, chipping in four rebounds, three assists and a steal. He did shoot just 1-for-4 from deep and had a pair of turnovers, but he was right there with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as the best player for Canada in their opening victory.

Canada vs. Australia - Canada Wins 93-83

RJ Barrett saw a dominant performance and raised himself, coming out against a deeper Australia team and continuing to dictate the game on the offensive end. He scored 24 points to lead all scorers on both teams, contributing seven rebounds, five assists and two steals. After he was cold from outside in his first game, he shot 3-for-6 from deep against the Boomers. He has been the team's best player through two games.

Canada vs. Spain - Canada wins 88-85

RJ Barrett was again a driving force behind a Canada victory on Friday, dropping 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting. He scored seven of his points in the fourth quarter, staving off a late push by Spain, including a massive 3-pointer in the final minute. He chipped in three assists and on the whole has arguably been Canada's best player thus far in France.

The Toronto Raptors have to love what they are seeing from Barrett thus far. He will get a chance to push Canada toward a medal when they play in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
