The Guards

DJ Carton: Former Ohio State and Marquette guard DJ Carton went undrafted in 2021 and has bounced around the G League ever since, catching on with the Toronto Raptors on a two-way contract last season. He appeared in four games and scored 11 total points, but has shown flashes of more in the G League. He will want to be a standout in Las Vegas to protect his two-way slot.

Javon Freeman-Liberty: Called upon last season in the face of a myriad of injuries to every part of the Raptors' roster, Freeman-Liberty finished the season on the main roster and has a non-guaranteed contract heading into this year. The Raptors currently have 16 players under roster and have used all of their two-way slots, so Freeman-Liberty will need to prove himself significantly not to get waived when Training Camp wraps up.

Joseph Girard III: The all-time leading scorer in New York state history, Joseph Girard was a star at Syracuse and then tacked on a season with Clemson last year. he is a smooth shooter who hopes to weaponize that skill enough to catch on as the latest undrafted player to ride his 3-point shot to a spot in the league. Just 6'1" tall, however, his path is a more difficult one than most.

Omari Moore: The 6'6" Omari Moore went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft, which was somewhat surprising given the league's love of wing-sized point guards; he was Mountain West Player of the Year his senior season at San Jose State. His shot isn't there, but he has great size and playmaking, and he could be a sneaky choice to have a big game and find his way to a two-way contract with someone in the NBA.

Tylor Perry: The modern NBA is not kind to small guards, so Tylor Perry's shot at making it into the league at 5'11" is a slim one. To his credit, he was the Conference USA Player of the Year at North Texas in 2023 before playing at Kansas State last season. He is an excellent shooter and scorer and at the least is a strong candidate to be on the Raptors 905 next year.

Jamal Shead: One of the best players in the nation last season with Houston - and perhaps the best guard defender in the draft - Shead passed up on being drafted much higher than 45th because the Raptors promised him a guaranteed contract. Now he will be competing with Davion Mitchell for the backup point guard spot, and how Shead plays in Las Vegas could give him a leg up or see him behind the 8 ball heading into Training Camp.
