Raptors have the perfect trade target thanks to Warriors' mistake

The Raptors should trade for Moses Moody

The scouting report on Moses Moody is an exciting one for the Raptors to consider. He is 6'5" with a 7'0" wingspan, giving him the length to capably defend wings of varying sizes. He is a career 36.2 percent 3-point shooter who has shot a scorching 57.1 percent from deep in 25 career playoff games. He is a solid rebounder for his size and has developed as a savvy cutter and off-ball mover playing with the Warriors.

Moody has spent the last three years growing as a 3-and-D role player, learning where to be for catch-and-shoot opportunities and taking on difficult defensive assignments. He isn't a wing stopper at the heights of Kawhi Leonard or OG Anunoby, to name a few former Raptors, but he plays hard and smart and has potential to continue to grow in that area.

The Raptors hope Gradey Dick ends up as the starting shooting guard next to RJ Barrett, but Moody would be a reaosnable option to back up both positions and has the upside to become the long-term starter. He also gives Toronto another option to play small, with Scottie Barnes sliding to the 5.

The Warriors could use a stretch big to help them unlock lineups with Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga. Could a deal be worked out with Kelly Olynyk heading to San Francisco and Kevon Looney and Moody coming to Toronto? Would a larger deal involving Jakob Poeltl or Bruce Brown be on the table? What about a smaller one with Davion Mitchell heading to the Dubs?

However it could happen, the Raptors should value Moody more highly than the Warriors, which is the setting to get a deal done. With Moody primed for a new contract next summer the Warriors need to trade him now, because it seems unlikely they will end up wanting to invest in a player they can't even find rotation minutes for right now.

That makes him an ideal trade target for a Raptors team that earnestly needs a player like Moses Moody.
