It didn't take long for some new roster news to come out from the Toronto Raptors, as the team would announce earlier today that they were signing 6-foot-9 forward Julian Reese, to what is being reported as an Exhibit 10 contract.

Raptors sign undrafted free agent Julian Reese

Reese spent four collegiate seasons at Maryland, where in his senior year as a member of the Terrapins, he averaged 13.3 points on 55.5% field goal shooting, 9.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.5 blocks in 36 appearances. Reese served as the frontcourt partner alongside top recruit Derik Queen, who would eventually be selected 13th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft by the New Orleans Pelicans.

Unfortunately for Reese, however, he would not hear his name called on draft night; instead, he went undrafted and later suited up for the Los Angeles Lakers at the 2025 NBA Summer League.

Blake Murphy would clarify the Reese signing in an X post, mentioning that he will likely be waived by the Raptors shortly and sent down to the 905 (Murphy called it an "Exhibit 0" deal, as Reese would essentially spend zero time with the team). Michael Grange of Sportsnet would add to this notion further with his own X post, stating: "Fixing earlier tweet. The Raptors most recent signing, Julien [sic] Reese, an undrafted centre out of Maryland, has agreed to an exhibit 10 contract and will likely be primarily attached to Raptors 905. The Raptors still have a roster spot open."

Now if the Reese last name sounds familar to you, that's because Julian Reese is the younger brother of WNBA star Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky. Reese has emerged as one of the WNBA's most notable stars, earning household name status in basketball as well as fashion, pop culture, media, and entertainment. At the same time, Angel Reese has also become somewhat of a polarizing figure because of her outspoken and bold personality. In light of the news of her brother Julian signing with Toronto, the elder Reese sibling would post a congratulatory message on X reading: "congrats to my baby brother! love you! @Resse10Julian".

Expect official word on Julian Reese's status with the Toronto Raptors to come in the next few days, as per the Blake Murphy and Michael Grange reports.
