Everyone has their own thoughts about the Brandon Ingram trade—both fans, commentators, and analysts alike—but when I said in my last piece that BI is arguably one of the best NBA talents for vibes and team chemistry, I meant that through and through.
Ingram is a chill, laid-back guy with a demeanor that seems to embody love and good spirits. His latest social media activity, in which he showered praise on one of his new teammates, is a perfect example of this.
Brandon Ingram acknowledges rookie Jamal Shead on social media
Masai Ujiri worked his magic when he completed a shocking trade on 2024 draft night, which saw Toronto flip the undesirable forward Jalen McDaniels for a bandit-like haul of quality assets. At the root of the deal was defensive stud guard Davion Mitchell, who proved valuable to the team in a limited role this season until he was traded at the deadline.
However, it was their 45th overall selection in the 2024 NBA Draft that ultimately eclipsed Mitchell in the pecking order and took the spotlight: Houston product Jamal Shead.
Don't let his small frame fool you; Shead has proven to be one of the Raptors' most gritty and locked-in "dawgs" in their lineup. He's never going to blow anyone away with his box score stats, but it's the little things that go a long way, and they have earned Shead the nod from Toronto as their backup guard moving forward.
Now, the nod of endorsement for Shead has come not only from the franchise but also from the team's newly acquired star, Brandon Ingram, who recently posted this on his Instagram story as referenced on X (formerly Twitter):

It may seem like a small gesture, but having a teammate who hasn't yet worn a Raptors uniform already embracing his fellow players bodes well for Ingram's presence in the locker room.
The NBA star landscape can be rife with drama and unnecessary toxicity, as the recent Jimmy Butler fiasco in Miami encapsulates how far a relationship between a player, his teammates, and a franchise can deteriorate. Thankfully, the Raptors have acquired a stand-up fellow in Brandon Ingram, who has set the benchmark as the franchise's first star to clearly express that Toronto is his desired destination.
It may still be a while before Ingram finally steps onto the court in Toronto's colors, but moments like this offer a glimpse into the promising chemistry developing between him and his teammates. Whether it's Jamal Shead or his potential co-star Scottie Barnes, who could prove pivotal in determining the success of this Ingram gamble, there's reason for optimism.
