The Toronto Raptors are still trying to fill out the rest of their roster before the beginning of the NBA season. Assuming the Kawhi Leonard trade goes through, Toronto will have two roster spots left to fill before the regular season. Given how Summer League standout Seth Lundy has performed, he deserves an opportunity to compete for one of these roster spots.

Seth Lundy has flashed potential in Summer League

The Raptors have a glaring offensive weakness: shooting. Last season, Toronto ranked 26th in the NBA in three-pointers made per game.

Through two Summer League games, Seth Lundy has shown that he could help address this weakness. In his first game, Lundy struggled from deep, shooting 2-for-11 from three-point range. However, he showed confidence, and his shooting touch looked clean and repeatable.

In his second Summer League game, Lundy was much more efficient. He shot 6-for-9 from deep and scored a team-high 23 points. He displayed the same confidence he showed in his first game, but this time his shots were falling.

Three-point shooting was Lundy's calling card coming out of college. He was selected in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft and shot above 40% from three during both his final college season and his lone G League season. Lundy missed all of last season with an injury, but his track record proves one thing: he is a shooter.

Toronto needs players like Lundy

The potential Kawhi Leonard trade would give Toronto one of the most talented cores in the Eastern Conference. However, it could also create depth issues that will be difficult to solve.

As Raptors fans know, Kawhi Leonard has always struggled with availability. Whether it is due to injury or load management, Toronto will likely need to plan for Leonard to miss 15 or more games this season.

Leonard missing games means the rest of the roster will need to step up. Toronto proved last season that it can compete without Leonard, but consistently winning without him in the lineup will still be a challenge.

To make matters even more difficult, Toronto has limited cap space to fill the remaining roster spots. Finding a potential contributor from its Summer League team would be a major win for the organization. Seth Lundy has shown that he could potentially be that player.

Lundy has already done enough to earn a training camp opportunity. From there, he will have a chance to prove he belongs on Toronto's regular-season roster.
