Right now, the buzz in NBA city surrounds the upcoming Finals blockbuster between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs. Rumbling of potential trade ideas, scenarios, and some rumors here and there have circulated, but much of these conversations have come in passing and aren't exactly heating up to a real summer sizzler level just yet.

That's not to say we aren't possibly in store for a tumultuous offseason ahead. Just looking at our beloved Toronto Raptors, they could be one such team that looks to make a big splash in order to improve or clean up their current outlook. Some obvious discussions have centered around what to do with the Jakob Poeltl contract or what Toronto's next steps will be with Sandro Mamukelashvili.

Perhaps the more uneasy question that needs to be addressed this offseason is Brandon Ingram's future on the Raptors.

How do the Raptors deal with Brandon Ingram moving forward?

No one can take away the resurgent campaign that Ingram put in for himself this past year. At several points he revealed just how much of an offensive force he can be for this team, while in other samples, the Brandon Ingram experience could prove frustrating and lackluster. That was the last taste left in many Raptors fans' mouthes after Ingram embarked on a weak 2026 playoff showing, which ended with him falling out of the series with a heel issue.

Whether you want to look at Ingram with some grace because of the injury or not, it doesn't hide the fact that he got thrust into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. The truth about Ingram's capacity to be an impact player when it matters most has been no secret at all in NBA circles, and it only got hotter of a topic after these Raptors developments.

And so, what is the Raptors' best course of action with Brandon Ingram moving forward? Well, the simple answer and bold play at hand here is to flip BI while he still has value, at least, that's the hope.

Can Brandon Ingram fetch a worthwhile return on the trade market?

This was a key storyline considered on a recent Raptors-focused edition of the Game Theory Podcast with Sam Vecenie and Bryce Simon. The big issue at hand (aside from his expensive salary), much like I've found myself mulling over in my own head, is figuring out a destination where Ingram is valued accordingly.

The Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets, Detroit Pistons, and the Los Angeles Clippers were all tabbed as possible Brandon Ingram landing spots on the Game Theory Podcast, but no team truly stands out as a real tangible suitor.

It's quite the tough dilemma to consider with how everything stands right now. It would be a disservice to completely sell Ingram short as a certified, negative asset: we are still talking about a recent All-Star and consistent 20-plus point per game scorer here. Then again, teams around the league don't seem to value the kind of offense that Ingram brings at the cost of his defensive liabilities and question marks around his winning impact.

On the Raptors' side of things, it's not so much about dumping Ingram, but his fit amongst this emerging core is still questionable. Finding ways to move Ingram's money, in turn figuring out a new path to improve the roster traditionally, rather than just buying into one primary piece, poses a lot of benefits. At the same time, how do you compensate for Ingram's loss of offensive spark if you're getting back 'weaker' assets at face value.

This will be the prevaling question in the Raptors' front office's mind this summer. it's either run it back with Brandon Ingram and hope for the best, or abandon ship now before the consequences prove dire to the lifeblood of their future (that being: Scottie Barnes, Ja'Kobe Walter, and Collin Murray-Boyles).
