Absolute insanity.
That might be the most appropriate way to describe the events of Game 6 between the Toronto Raptors and Cleveland Cavaliers. For the Cavs, this was their golden moment to close things out in the series and crush the hearts of Raptors fans in enemy territory. As for the Raptors, the Scotiabank Arena backdrop gave them a spirit-filled edge in a do-or-die affair to keep their 2026 postseason efforts alive.
And what a game it turned out to be as it would extend into overtime after a closely contested fourth quarter that ended with both team at 104 points a piece. The Raptors squad looked visibly spent with three players in the 40+ minutes played mark, while rookie Collin Murray-Boyles just finished shy of reaching that margin in total minutes played.
With Toronto struggling to find their offensive rhythm in the fourth quarter, having shot just 23.5 percent from the field, it was going to take an ultra heroic effort to get the Raptors past the finish line.
But fear not, because who was there to save the day for Toronto in the end? None other than hometown phenom, RJ Barrett.
The Raptors would trail by one point as overtime wound down into the final moments, with franchise cornerstone Scottie Barnes taking command of the ball. He would drive inside, being met by Dean Wade and Evan Mobley, to which he'd dish the rock to an open RJ Barrett from deep range for a desperation three-point shot. Barrett would let the jimmy fly, where the ball would bounce high off the steel plate and swish into the net to send the Raptors ahead 112-110 with 1.2 seconds to go.

As expected, the hometown Scotiabank Arena, Jurassic Park, and I'm sure the entire city watching at home got sent into a frenzy.
Evan Mobley would try his own deep three to try and send the game home for the Cavaliers, but to no avail, and just like that, the Raptors vs. Cavaliers series will be pushed to Game 7 on Sunday evening.
What a moment for RJ Barrett. Game 6 was not easy in the slightest for all parties involved, but it got especially tough for the "Maple Mamba" as the contest inched into high-stakes crunch time. Barrett finished with an ultra critical 24 points, but he shot just 8-for-21 from the field, 4-for-12 from three, and had five turnovers to his name.
But when the team needed a saving grace at the most crucial moment, it was the Mississauga/Toronto native who answered the call. A friendly bounce shot like this is naturally going to draw comparisons to the famous Kawhi Leonard shot from 2019, and it’s hard not to feel those same goosebumps from back then. In a non-Raptors context, the RJ Barrett shot drew mirror image comparisons to Tyrese Haliburton's OT forcing shot from last year's playoffs against the Knicks.
The rise of RJ Barrett in these playoffs has been nothing short of impressive. He’s made a real statement to the doubters and critics who said he’s not a winning player. Considering that Barrett has often been the odd man out in the widely discussed Raptors core, he’s done everything in his power to render those talks null and void, and potentially earn a well-deserved extension.
For Raptors fans everywhere, this should be remembered forever as the night a kid from Sauga saved their season. Here’s to Game 7 and what will hopefully be another spirited effort from the Raps and RJ Barrett.
