Charles Oakley in the news for all the wrong reasons

Former Toronto Raptor Charles Oakley is a legend for his tough guy antics on the court during his 19-year NBA career. However, Oakley has been keeping his name in the news of late for all the wrong reasons.

Charles Oakley was a legendary tough guy during his 19-year career in NBA and was constantly in the headlines for his antics on the court. Oakley played three years in Toronto for the Raptors from 1998 to 2001 and was the enforcer on the floor for anybody who dare mess with the golden boy Vince Carter. Oakley fulfilled a similar role during his days in Chicago while playing alongside of a young Michael Jordan.

However, Oakley has been keeping his name in the news of late for all the wrong reasons.

First there was the infamous blow up at Madison Square Garden after New York Knicks owner James Dolan requested that Oakley be physically removed from the Garden by security.

Oakley was charged with assault, aggravated harassment as well as criminal trespass and harassment following his ejection from MSG back in February 8.

He was offered a plea deal to have the charges dropped if he stayed out of trouble for a year but turned that down so he can have an opportunity to fight the charges in court.

Oakley has now come under fire for what have been called “sexist” remarks when he said that some of today’s NBA players are so sensitive that they should “wear dresses.”

Oakley’s current role is as a coach in the Big3 three-on-three basketball league where a video has now surfaced of a sideline argument with former NBA’er Stephen Jackson.

Some guys mellow with age but Oak appears to still have the edge in him that made him so feared during his NBA career.
