WASHINGTON, DC –  FEBRUARY 1: DeMar DeRozan /

Remember when ESPN ranked DeMar DeRozan as the 39th best player in the NBA? DeMar DeRozan remembers.

Since that fateful day in September it seems as though the 28-year old has used that ranking as motivation to reach an entire new level in his career and become an MVP candidate.  Now, on the big stage DeRozan has no plans on letting up anytime soon.

The four-time All-Star put up great numbers against Washington in the regular season. DeRozan scored 20 or more points in each of the Raptors’ four meetings with the Wizards this year. His dominance included a 33-point performance on November 19th.

We know that the 28-year old plays his best when he has a chip on his shoulder. With Toronto now sitting atop the Eastern Conference, you can guarantee DeRozan will have two goals in mind come Playoffs. First the ultimate goal of course, is to win the championship and the second, will be to silence the critics and the naysayers who wrote off this team from the very beginning.

DeRozan scoring 40 points at least once in this series is not out of the question.
