10 greatest moments in Raptors history
By Brian Boake
The Raptors had already gotten a monkey off their backs by slipping past the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 of their quarter-final series. Now Toronto found itself in another Game 7 at home against a feisty Heat squad. Three of the games had gone to overtime, and the Raptors had dropped two of them, so they wanted no more of that.
Toronto’s lead was eight heading into the final quarter. Miami had poured in 31 points in Q3, clear proof they weren’t going away. But the Raptors backcourt wouldn’t be denied, as Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan totalled 63 points for the game. Toronto blew the visitors away when it mattered, winning Q4 by 19.
For the first team in team history, the Raptors were in the Eastern finals. All they needed to do before playing for a championship was defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers. Oops.
