Fred VanVleet

Entering Restricted free agency, Fred VanVleet is about to receive a much deserved pay raise. However as VanVleet enters free agency in one of the worst times in recent years, his raise might not be as big as some expect.

Fred VanVleet is amazing, he was recently named a Sixth Man of the Year finalist, and his true value was displayed this postseason when he missed several games due to injury.

But point guard is far from a position of need for most teams, and as VanVleet enters a free agency market that is stricken for cash, it’s hard to envision VanVleet earning more than $8-$10 Million per year.

If that is the price, expect Toronto to bring him back. If someone backs up the brinks truck, they might need to look in another direction.

Chance of returning – 75 percent

Delon Wright

As the Raptors face a critical decision with one of their young point guards, they might be forced to decide on another prospect as well.

Making only $2.5 million next season, Toronto can afford to bring back Wright and VanVleet for one more season. However, the numbers become more difficult after that. Wright’s rookie contract will be up after next season and with Kyle Lowry presumably still on the roster, the Raptors will need to commit to close to $50 Million to the point guard position if they want to keep all three.

If Toronto acts preëmptively, Wright might be gone. If they kick the can down the road for one more year, or are forced to move on from Fred VanVleet, Wright will be back.

Chance of returning – 80 percent
