Toronto Raptors: Chances of each player returning next season
C.J. Miles
C.J. Miles performed exactly as advertised for the Toronto Raptors. No better, no worse. Received in return for Corey Joseph last summer, Miles’ role was to provide veteran leadership, as well as, a much-needed dose of three-point shooting.
That’s exactly what Miles did hitting 38-percent of his threes on 6.5 attempts per game.
Miles is on a reasonable $7 million dollar contract and could fill a wing shooting role for many contending teams. However, Miles currently fills that same function with the Raptors and a quick glance at the roster shows very few contenders for an in-house replacement.
If Miles were to depart, the spacing for Toronto’s “Bench Mob” gets really tight. Unlikely to receive much more than marginal assets in return, don’t expect Miles to be dealt, with the exception of a full-fledged tear down.
Chance of returning – 85 percent
Pascal Siakam
After Pascal Siakam’s first season, it looked like he could be a spark-plug-type player that provided a lineup with energy and effort. After his sophomore campaign, it appears he can be much more than that.
Last season, Siakam flashed abilities as a versatile big man with an all-around skill-set reminiscent of a poor man’s Draymond Green or Al Horford.
Still on a bargain rookie contract for two more years and a great fit on the current roster, don’t expect Toronto to move Siakam unless he is part of a bigger, blockbuster-type deal.
