DeMar DeRozan (2017-2018): Starting Shooting Guard

Gone from our team but not our hearts, DeMar DeRozan earns a place as the all-time team’s starting shooting guard. Even to the most casual Raptor fan, DeRozan’s impact both on and off the court is glaringly obvious.

Like Lowry, the only question surrounding DeRozan is which season to use. Unlike Lowry, this answer is a little more clear-cut.

Last season was the best season of DeRozan’s impressive career. He improved as a shooter, passer, and yes even slightly as a defender. On an all-time team, those improvements as a shooter to space the floor and a passer will be critical the team’s success.

In 2017-2018 DeMar averaged 23.0 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game. He was elected to 2nd team All-NBA and even finished 8th in MVP voting.

So much attention has been paid to DeRozan’s flaws over the past couple of months, it’s easy to forget about his tremendous strengths. The fact is he has been one of, if not the, best player(s) in franchise history.

For our team he will need to lower his usage and improve his efficiency. He also might spend a good amount of minutes with our bench units as the team’s primary scorer. Overall a pretty easy role for a player as skilled as DeMar.
