Holiday gifts for every Toronto Raptor, including Danny Green’s time machine
Kawhi Leonard – A highlights of Toronto gift basket
Speaking of gifts that are secretly for yourself, for Kawhi’s gift I plan on doing everything possible to nudge him in the right direction this offseason.
- A visit to the Royal Ontario Museum
- A night on the town with Drake.
- The CN Tower. — Not a tour, he can have the whole thing.
Whatever I need to do to make Kawhi fall in love with this city and stay for another five years. You might call this a little desperate; I call it resourceful (And a little desperate).
Pascal Siakam – A three-point shot
Pascal Siakam’s three-point shooting has taken a huge step forward this season, but it’s still not good.
The third-year player is shooting 35-percent from downtown this season, a very reasonable mark. However, it’s also a very misleading number. Watching him play, it doesn’t feel like he’s an average shooter. A deep dive into the numbers, prove that he’s not.
51 of Siakam’s 60 three-point shots have been labeled as “Wide-Open”, (defender 6+ feet away), eight were labeled “Open” (defender 4-6 feet away). Siakam has shot one three-point attempt while being guarded (he missed). 57 of Siakam’s three-point attempts were “Catch and shoot”, typically much higher percentage shots than pull-up threes.
These stats shouldn’t make you think any lesser of Siakam as a basketball player. The fact teams are sagging so far off, and he is still roasting them on his way to the basket is beyond impressive. Instead, you should think of how good he would be with a viable jumpshot. A real jumper to take in rhythm, rather than only shooting when dared by the defense.
Siakam is unbelievable now. He’d be unstoppable with a jumpshot.
