Raptors Destroy the Dynasty

Upsets have been few and far in between in the NBA.

Backed by a roaring city, a rejuvenated bench, and a superstar who won’t stop, the Raptors open the NBA Finals with a double-digit win over the Warriors. The team doesn’t miss a beat as they control the pace, outrebound them, and use their length to frustrate them on the perimeter.

Game 2 is more of the same. The Warriors make adjustments to the lineups and incorporate Cousins. This backfires as Cousins becomes a liability on offense as Gasol does a tremendous job stopping him allowing the Raptors to focus on the shooters. The Raptors win and take a 2-0 lead.

NBA fans are shocked. For the first time, the Warriors are down 0-2. Durant is still questionable and there is plenty of talk about turmoil building in the team. Rumours swirl that Cousins and Green are beefing.

The dynasty is unraveling.

But not so fast.

The Warriors regroup and refocus back in Oakland. Durant returns but is limited. They play Toronto close and Durant is the answer to finally slowing down Leonard. For the first time this series, Leonard looks human. Golden State defends home and takes Game 3.

Everyone is buzzing that the Warriors are back. But Durant is still limited and appears to reinjure his calf. The Raptors exploit this as Leonard goes off and leads Toronto to a commanding 3-1 series lead.

Returning to Toronto, the Raptors don’t let the Warriors off the hook. Led by Lowry, the Raptors close out Golden State who continue to struggle to get into a rhythm.

The Raptors pull off the most unbelievable upset in the modern era.
