Toronto Raptors Roundtable: NBA Finals keys to the series, predictions, and more
What percent chance do you give Toronto to win the series?
Mark Birdsell:
The Raptors swept the season series against the Warriors 2-0. One of those wins came without Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors won by 20. But the playoffs are a different story.
If Durant is healthy when he returns, the Warriors will likely be hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy for the fourth time in five years. If Durant isn’t 100-percent once he comes back, then the Raptors can make this a series. Kawhi has been the best player in these playoffs. He has been dominant on both ends. And Leonard, not Durant might just be the best basketball player on the planet at this moment.
Mike Bossetti:
25-percent. That’s not meant to be disrespectful to the greatest Raptors team in franchise history, but instead a nod at the greatness of the Warriors. In a typical NBA season, the Raptors would enter the Finals as the favorite. Against Golden State — the greatest dynasty since the 90’s Bulls — they’re the significant underdog.
Go Paolo:
50-percent. The Raptors have proven to be a resilient team who can adapt and defend any kind of team. They have the best collection of two-way players who are long and athletic, and they are peaking at the right time. The homecourt advantage will also be nice. As long as Leonard stays healthy and enough role players step up, Toronto will be in this series all the way.
William Ricks:
I give the Raptors a 45-percent chance of winning the series. I fear the Raptors running out of gas against the Warriors who now have their role player playing well. Kawhi will carry the team, but all good things (including postseason runs) come to an end, right?
