Three takeaways from Toronto Raptors crushing Game 5 loss
Where do we go from here
As bad as it seemed last night, the Raptors are still in control of this series.
Toronto has outplayed Golden State every step of this series, with the exception of a few blips. With Durant injured, the Raptors are simply the better team. Toronto has more shooting, more defensive prowess, and more depth than the Warriors.
The Raptors had their two best scoring options no-show, shot 25-percent from the three (compared to the Warriors 48-percent), and still almost won the game. They still have two chances to close it out, including one at home. This is the Raptors series to lose.
But now it gets dangerous. At home, the Warriors will be favorites for Game 6. If they win that, it’s a pressure-filled Game 7 against a team who has been there before. The Raptors are still the favorites, but a little doubt is wafting through the air right now.
It never was going to be easy. These are the NBA Finals, and the Golden State Warriors are one of the greatest dynasties of all-time. It should be a struggle.
We’ll see what adjustments Toronto can make, who can play better in Game 5, and if the Raptors can close this out at Oracle. Until then, enjoy it. The Toronto Raptors are in the NBA Finals.
