Gerald Henderson

Gerald Henderson has loved playing against the Atlantic division throughout his career, posting a career average of 13.4 points against Toronto, Boston, and New York. That per-game average is more than two points greater than his career mark of 11.2.

In 23 career contests versus Toronto, Henderson has dropped double-digit points 16 times, including four performances featuring 20 or more.

His career-high against the Raptors came back on Jan. 8, 2015 when Henderson dropped 31 points in an outing that saw him fail to make a single three. Instead, he nailed 13 of 20 two-point attempts and went 5-7 from the charity stripe.

There have been many nights where Toronto simply had no answers to the questions Gerald was posing; every time he saw a Raptor uni, Henderson found another gear in his game that would drive Raptor fans mad!

Unfortunately, due to injury, Henderson was forced to retire from the NBA in April of 2019. He is now a broadcaster for FOX Sports’ regional coverage of the Charlotte Hornets. No longer will he haunt the dreams of Raptors fans.

But for a time, Henderson lived inside the minds of Toronto players and fans, rent-free. Sensational performances against were habitual for the hard-nosed guard. Most every Raptor fan remembers sitting in front of their television, yelling “Gerald Henderson is KILLING US!”

I certainly am glad his playing days are over, though I wish the circumstances of his retirement were different. Like Doug McDermott, Henderson simply had another gear to his game every time he saw a Raptors uni.
