The trade deadline was a surprisingly interesting one this season. However, one of the few teams not to make headlines were the Toronto Raptors. Was it the right call?

At the time of writing this, the Toronto Raptors just won their 13th straight game – a franchise record. They’ve turned into as much of a contender as anyone else not named the Milwaukee Bucks in the East so far.

But, could they have made a move on the

Thursday deadline

to put them over the edge and separate from the crowded two through six spots? Hunter and Connor Chambers of the TSV Podcast share their thoughts on this week’s Raptors Rapture podcast:

The main theme behind this season for the defending champs has been health. Or I guess, lack of health. They’ve missed the fifth-most games in the league, yet are still sitting comfortably in second place.

Frankly, they’re doing just fine the way they are.

There had been many names attached to the Raptors in discussions before the deadline such as Andre Drummond, Kevin Love and Danilo Gallinari. Only one of those guys – Drummond – got moved. It was essentially for – as the No Dunks Inc. crew calls it – a “bag of beans”.

Yes, the Raptors’ biggest issue as a whole is their rebounding and they wouldn’t have had to give up a whole lot to get him, but Drummond isn’t making the Raps any better.

The two who weren’t moved probably would have been at too high of an asking price for the Raps so, the decision not to pick them up and disrupt a good thing was a good idea.

As they say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

It would be surprising if Bobby Webster and Masai Ujiri didn’t test the waters at least a little bit when the buy out market starts to fill out, but until then, we’ll have to watch this version of the Raptors keep on keeping on.
