Patrick McCaw

Patrick McCaw is now in his fourth NBA season. He was initially drafted by Milwaukee in the second round back in 2016 and then traded to Golden State. He is a member of the Golden State Warriors 2017 and 2018 NBA Championship teams and was on Toronto’s roster last season when they beat Golden State for the NBA title.

While this means he has been on championship teams three of his four years in the Association, McCaw is not necessarily a reliable member of the Raptors core rotation. He is listed as a small forward standing six feet seven weighing 181 pounds.

However, when examining the Raptors depth chart by position, Patrick McCaw is third best at the small forward spot and that ranking may be slipping. McCaw started the year needing four weeks to recover from arthroscopic knee surgery and was out of the lineup due to illness until recently.

McCaw only played in 128 regular-season games over two years for Golden State. Between Toronto and Cleveland last season, McCaw played in just 29 games. His games played per season have dropped off dramatically over the last two years.

He has managed to play in only 35 games this season averaging 4.7 points in 24.3 minutes per game. McCaw has the physical attributes Toronto wants in a wing player who is long and can defend multiple positions but he never seems to be on the floor.

With 20 games left in the season, including Sunday’s contest against Sacramento, McCaw has little time left to make head coach Nick Nurse decide to keep him in the rotation with tough matchups and the playoffs vast approaching.
