1. Re-Sign Fred VanVleet

2019-20 stats – 54 GP – 17.6 PPG – 3.8 RPG – 6.6 APG – .413 FG% – .390 3P% – .848 FT%

Career stats – 231 GP – 10.5 PPG – 2.6 RPG – 4.1 APG – .412 FG% – .393 3P% – .842 FT%

At my number one and final spot on this list of three priorities for the Toronto Raptors this off-season I have probably the most obvious and important one, re-signing Fred VanVleet. If I’m the Toronto Raptors this is number one on my list of things to do this off-season, and it probably is number one on their list if we’re being honest right now.

VanVleet has emerged himself as one of the best point guards in the league, in my opinion, he is definitely in the conversation of being a top 15 point guard out of all the teams starting point guards and bench point guards too.

He has improved his stats across the board every year since entering the league undrafted, and has been a key part of the team in their playoff runs as well. Getting VanVleet locked up is very important not only because he’s a good player, but because he is their future point guard and will get all the minutes once Kyle Lowry either retires with Toronto or leaves Toronto.

At the age of 26 and only being in the league for four years so far, playing in three full seasons he has rapidly grown as a great overall player. What he can do on the offensive side of the ball is amazing, but what he can do on the defensive side of the ball is just as good. He’s a great offensive player with his high basketball IQ and his three point shooting and it goes great along with his defensive awareness as he is top of the league in steals and deflections. Again like Ibaka I don’t want to guess contracts but I could see VanVleet getting a multi year deal with an average salary of maybe around $15-18M, I don’t see him getting a max contract so I dont know why people re saying he is probably getting one. What do you think are the main priorities for the Toronto Raptors this off-season? Is it any of the three I mentioned in replacing Gasol and re-signing both Ibaka or VanVleet, or is something different?
