Raptors trade No. 3: Toronto snags Marvin Bagley III from Sacramento

Bagley is averaging 14.1 points and 7.6 rebounds for the Kings this year. Those numbers look good at first glance, but they are almost the exact same numbers he put up in his rookie season, showing that he has not made the leap to stardom that Sacramento expected. It appears that the Kings, who have missed the playoffs ever year since 2006, are rebuilding again.

De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton give the Kings a young backcourt for the future, but Bagley could be dealt to a team like the Raptors if they get enough assets in return. A Top 10-protected first-round pick, a solid backup center like Aron Baynes, and a guard like Davis could be enough to convince Sacramento to give Bagley up.

How would Marvin Bagley III help the Raptors?

Bagley is an awful defender, making him one of the main reasons the Kings have been putrid on the defensive end. Nurse and the Raptors should at least be able to make him not horrible on the defensive end, and his offensive potential remains mouth-watering.

Bagley is able to bring the ball up, glide to the rim, rise up from 3-point range, and snag some tough rebounds. And he’s still just 21 years old! Getting picked before Luka Doncic and Trae Young looks bad, but Bagley can still become a star in this league, and the Raptors might be able to turn him around if they’re willing to pay up.
