Raptors trade partner No. 3: Miami Heat

The Heat have been snooping around Kyle Lowry’s camp for a long time, and they are willing to give up plenty of assets in order to make this trade happen. Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler have been as dynamic a duo as there is in the league, but the Heat need that third star to really go over the top.

The Heat lack draft capital, and the NBA’s rule preventing Miami from giving away first-round picks in consecutive seasons, might mean that it could be tough for Toronto to get a deal done. However, if the Heat give away some young stars, the Raptors could send Lowry over to South Beach.

What could Miami give the Toronto Raptors?

The latest reports suggest that Toronto would want either Tyler Herro or Duncan Robinson, the former of whom is one of the game’s best young guards and the latter of whom is a restricted free agent at the end of the season, in exchange for Lowry.

Even though the Heat don’t have the draft capital to entice the Raptors, a package headlined by Herro or Robinson in addition to an expensive veteran like Goran Dragic might be too good for the front office to pass up. Lowry gets to compete for a title in Miami, while Toronto gets a young backcourt cornerstone. Win-win.
