Raptors scenario No. 2: The Boston Celtics trade for Aaron Gordon

The Celtics haven’t made trades in the past because of the reluctance of Danny Ainge, and now Ainge’s lack of aggression has made some teams wary of doing business with Boston. If Ainge wakes up, he could trade for Orlando Magic star Aaron Gordon.

While Gordon has tried to walk back his trade request over the last few days, that hasn’t stopped teams like Boston and the Denver Nuggets from extending some feelers out for him. The Celtics are hanging onto their playoff hopes by a threat, but Gordon could change that.

Aaron Gordon could put some distance between the Celtics and the Raptors

The Celtics could get a controllable frontcourt presence in Gordon that fixes their rebounding woes, all the while potentially creating a very intriguing Magic team that could contend in a few years given the boatload of young players and picks the Celtics could send their way.

There’s a reason that Miami and Philadelphia have been heavily linked to Toronto, as they could potentially take either Powell or Lowry and prevent a borderline team from adding one of these two in order to become a contender. Both the Magic and Celtics could benefit from this deal, and that should spook Toronto.
