Reason No. 1: The Raptors could spoil a lot of teams’ seasons

Last season Raptors fans had hope. They were champions and excited about our chances of repeating, until Boston. When the Celtics beat the Raptors in Game 7, the dream ended. Now the Raptors are 11th in the East and fresh off a nine game losing streak, with recent losses to the Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers on their resume.

But they’re only four games out of the 8th seed and one game out of a play-in tournament spot. Imagine if the Raptors plucked a playoff spot out of the New York Knicks’ hands. This is the Raptors’ chance to play spoiler.

The Toronto Raptors could ruin things for their rivals

Toronto might not have realistic championship hopes this season, but they have the talent to knock off a contender. Outside of the Brooklyn Nets with Kevin Durant on the court, there is no team the Raptors wouldn’t have a chance of beating in a playoff series.

And some of those teams, like Boston, Miami, and Milwaukee, have championship aspirations. If the Raptors start playing better down the stretch, they could enter the playoffs with some momentum and be one of the most dangerous lower seed teams we have ever seen.

This team could be the 2021 version of the 2006-07 Golden State Warriors that beat the first seeded Dallas Mavericks in the playoffs. But they need to get there first.
